Our commitment

Off Grid Land Development is committed to making offgridlanddevelopment.com usable by as many people as possible, and to making sure that no one has to use a website to do business with us. If any part of this site gets in your way, we will get you the same information or complete the same transaction another way — see Feedback and help below.

Conformance status

Our accessibility target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.

This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the standard, or have not yet been evaluated thoroughly enough for us to say that they do.

We do not claim full conformance. We are not “certified,” and we do not claim to be “WCAG compliant” or “ADA compliant.” No independent third party has audited this site, and we have not published a VPAT. We would rather tell you exactly where we stand than make a claim we cannot back up.

How we have tested this site

We run automated accessibility testing with axe-core against the public pages of this site. As of the effective date above, those automated scans report no violations on the pages tested. The pages covered are:

• the home page;
• the services overview and the four service pages — off-grid solar, well drilling, solar well pumps, and septic systems;
• the DIY kits and SolarSet kit pages;
• the solar estimator;
• this statement, the privacy policy, and the terms of service.

Automated testing only catches a portion of real accessibility problems. Tools like axe-core are good at finding machine-checkable failures — missing alternative text, insufficient color contrast, form fields with no label, invalid ARIA. They cannot judge whether alternative text is actually meaningful, whether a reading order makes sense, whether a custom control announces its state correctly, or whether a task can be completed start to finish without a mouse. A clean automated scan is a floor, not a passing grade.

Manual screen-reader testing is not yet complete. We have not finished end-to-end testing with NVDA, JAWS, or VoiceOver, and until we have, we cannot tell you that every flow on this site works well with assistive technology. That work is planned and this page will be updated when it is done.

What we have built in so far

• A “Skip to main content” link as the first item in the tab order.
• Semantic HTML landmarks — a single main region, real headings, real lists, and a page language of English.
• Every form field wired to a real text label, with required fields marked in text rather than by color alone.
• Visible focus outlines on links, buttons, and controls when navigating by keyboard.
• Decorative icons and diagrams hidden from screen readers so they do not add noise.
• Body text, headings, and link colors measured against the WCAG AA contrast thresholds rather than eyeballed.
• Reduced-motion support — animations and smooth scrolling are turned off when your system asks for reduced motion.

Known gaps and limitations

These are the areas we know are not there yet. We are listing them rather than hiding them.

Third-party content we do not control

• Google Maps. The solar estimator embeds an interactive Google map and satellite imagery to locate your property. That component is built and served by Google, and we cannot change its markup or keyboard behavior.
• Stripe Checkout. Payments happen on Stripe’s own hosted checkout pages. Their accessibility is Stripe’s responsibility, not something we can modify.
• Google Analytics and Google Ads scripts are loaded from Google and are outside our control.

Inherently visual content

• Choosing a roof or ground-mount location on a satellite image is a visual task with no good non-visual equivalent. Call us and we will gather the same information about your property over the phone and run the estimate for you.
• Some site and equipment photography in our galleries has short alternative text that describes the subject but not every detail in the image.

Documents and customer flows

• PDF proposals, contracts, and invoices we generate may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will send the same content as plain text or accessible email, or read it to you over the phone.
• The e-signature flow requires drawing or typing a signature. If that is not workable for you, we will arrange another way to sign.
• Our private customer proposal, contract-signing, and internal admin pages have not been included in the testing described above.

Interface details we know need work

• Our keyboard focus outline is the brand gold. It reads clearly on the site’s dark sections, but against the light sand backgrounds it is lower contrast than the WCAG AA threshold for non-text elements. It is visible, but not as visible as it should be, and replacing it with an indicator that is strong on both backgrounds is on our list.

Ongoing

• Manual assistive-technology testing across the site is pending.
• Content is added and updated regularly, and a new page can regress something we had fixed. Reports from real users are the fastest way we find those.

Feedback and help

If you run into a barrier on this site — a page you cannot read, a form you cannot complete, a control your screen reader will not announce — please tell us. Include the page address and what happened if you can, but a short note is plenty.

This statement was prepared by Off Grid Land Development on July 30, 2026 based on our own review and automated testing of this site. It has not been evaluated by an external auditor. We will update it as we complete further testing and fix what we find.
